Jeff 1 Year Ago..

One year ago I was coaching football at Southern Virginia University. Playing and coaching college football had always been a dream of mine ever since I was little. I was able to do both while at SVU. The experience was unforgettable! I graduated from SVU in 2007 and continued to work at the university while Heather finished her degree.

Check out the highlights from our game against Division II Kentucky Weslyen College. We won this game at the last second. We finished the season 6-5.

Heather 1 Year Ago...

A year ago, I was finishing up my undergraduate degree at Southern Virginia University. It was a hectic last semester with senior papers, senior paper presentations, and FINALS, but I was able to balance the stress with a lot of fun. I graduated with a B.A. in History and Philosophy. Graduation day was a great day to be a KNIGHT!

Next Step... MARRIAGE!

JEFF Says: Heather and I met about 4 years ago. We were then married in Las Vegas in March of 2008. It was an exciting day! Of course I went along with all of the plans Heather made because I had no clue about color schemes or flowers. It turned out great! It was so nice to have a lot of family and friends together to celebrate.

HEATHER says: Jeff is right, I did most of the planning, but he was supportive. Everything was perfect! It was so much fun, having all of our closest friends & family there to celebrate with! It had been a busy year for us thus far, but things were about to go in a direction neither of us saw coming!

GUAM?! Guam here we come!

HEATHER says: Right after we got married we headed to Flagstaff, AZ. The plan was for me to find a solid, full-time job doing SOMETHING meaningful, and Jeff was going to start Grad School in the Fall. Turned out, it wasn't meant to be. Things weren't falling into place as we had hoped, and we began to explore our options. Guam (a surprising one) began to look better, and better. Suddenly, I found myself on an 18 hour flight to an island I didn't know much about.

JEFF says: Well, there's more to it than that. We happened to be with the Fee's in April and Dr. Fee sold us on the Guam idea. We were excited that we would be able to teach and go to school at the same time. We were also up for the adventure! And, who can argue with a tropical island?! We love it here!

Our Teaching World

JEFF says: Teaching has a world of it's own. I am currently teaching reading at Astumbo Middle School. I have 6th 7th and 8th grade students. I am also the co-athletic director. I love being involved, especially with the athletics! There's nothing like middle school kids!! I love it and love the students I teach.

HEATHER says: Teaching is definitely a world all its own. I teach Social Studies (& D.I. Reading)  at Astumbo Middle School. The kids can make you crazy! But we have a lot of fun. I love the kids, & I'm learning SO much!

The Graduate World

HEATHER says: This fall we began the rapid-fire SpEd Graduate Program at UOG. Its been a lot like drinking from a fire-hose, but I'm learning so much from my Professors and my fellow cohorts!

One semester down, only a couple more to go!

JEFF says: One semester down! I have learned so much in the past 4 months that I can't even believe it. We have such a great cohort and I love spending my Thursday nights and Saturdays with them. The program is awesome and the professors are the best. One more year and we'll be walking to get our diplomas!
